Hello, I am Jeremy Miller. My journey to help people of all ages began over two decades ago, and it has been a rewarding experience working in all sectors of senior living care. My career started in 1998 as a social worker after graduating from Bethany College.
Over the years, I have held various positions in this industry, from social work to marketing and from director to activity director in adult day care. I have also worked in activities in skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and independent living. I have always believed that intergenerational experiences are important for all ages. These experiences not only bridge the gap between generations but also foster a sense of connection and understanding. Volunteering with several senior programs and leading dementia support groups have been some of the highlights of my career.
In 2008, I decided to share my experiences in healthcare and started the "Engage With Me" Facebook page. The intention was to teach care partners how to engage with people facing memory challenges. My grandmother had memory challenges, and my parents asked me for help in finding resources to assist her. I had assumed my parents knew how to access these resources. This experience made me realize that care partners often need help finding resources and support that should be easily accessible. It's crucial that we all understand and empathize with the challenges faced by seniors and their care partners in accessing these resources.
Fast forward to 2024, I decided to find a way to engage people in the church and the community. Resources and support to help seniors should be easily accessible. I think churches can play a significant role in helping all seniors with support and resources. God's Resources Allowing Christ Engagement (GRACE) serves the needs of care partners and people faced with memory challenges. Kindness In Action (KIA) serves the needs of seniors of all ages. FaithTech Engage serves the need for seniors to engage successfully with technology. Engagexpress serves the need for care partners and seniors to get engaging resources and support. With programs in place, seniors receive support and resources.
We are facing a senior crisis in the United States. Church leaders need to find ways to engage congregation members and the community. With my two decades of experience, I want to help and show church leaders, community leaders, and organizations how to navigate resources and support for all seniors. I am excited about this journey and look forward to making a difference in the lives of many.
