Yesterday I was at the gym. A neighbor of mine was talking to me about some troubles he was going through. I decided to listen and not talk. What I found is listening to him was the care that he was looking for at the moment.

Saying Thank You With The Burdens We Carry

Sometimes faith becomes very real during simple conversations. That happened to me recently at church. A group of us were talking about Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the four Gospels. We were sharing thoughts about Jesus, the disciples, and the difficult moments they experienced. During the conversation, one woman shared something that stayed with me. She said that when something hard appears in front of her, she makes it a practice to say “Thank you.” She was not saying thank you because the situation was easy. She was saying thank you because the burden was placed in front of her, and she chose to accept it.

I have to admit, that idea made me uncomfortable. I began asking myself a difficult question. How do you say thank you when something truly hurts? How do you say thank you when the burden feels heavy and unfair? Many caregivers feel this same tension.…

Everyone Has a Flow of Care

You don’t have to earn the right to call yourself a caregiver.

Many people don’t see themselves as caregivers — but they are. Care shows up in everyday moments:

  • Checking on a friend

  • Showing patience

  • Helping someone feel seen

  • Supporting family, coworkers, neighbors, or strangers

Flow of Care

Flow of Care is the natural way you care.

Flow of Care is the unique, natural way each person shows their support, and care for others. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about doing more. It’s about recognizing how care already flows through you.

You don’t need a title to be a caregiver. If you encourage, listen, protect, serve, teach, support, or uplift — care is already moving through you.

When do I care in a way that feels natural, not forced?

Elder Advocacy & Care Foundation

Caregivers, I want to share a trusted resource that may be helpful to you or someone you know — the Elder Advocacy & Care Foundation.

This organization works to support seniors and the families who care for them. They help people navigate difficult elder care situations, understand available resources, and advocate for the safety, dignity, and well-being of older adults. If you are feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to turn, or need guidance with a care situation, reaching out to them could be a helpful step.

Caregiving can be complicated, and sometimes we need someone in our corner who understands the system and can help us find solutions. Don’t hesitate to call and ask for help if you need it.

I also encourage our community to consider supporting the Elder Advocacy & Care Foundation. Contributions help them continue their work advocating for seniors and assisting caregivers who need guidance and support.

Prayer for caregivers

God, we lift up the caregivers who quietly carry so much each day. For the caregiver who wakes up tired but continues anyway, who manages appointments, medications, meals, and worries that few people see. For those who wonder if they are doing enough, even while giving their heart in every moment of care. Lord, give them strength when they feel worn down and moments of rest in the middle of long days. Send people into their lives who will support, encourage, and walk beside them. Remind them that their compassion, patience, and presence matter deeply. May they feel seen, valued, and strengthened, knowing that the love they give through caregiving is powerful and meaningful. Amen.

Welcome to We Care For Caregivers

Caregiving can feel like a journey you’re walking alone—but you are not alone here.

This is a space where caregivers can connect with others who truly understand the experiences, challenges, and meaningful moments that come with caring for someone else. Here, you can share your story, talk about the things that matter to you, and discover common interests with people who are walking a similar path.

This community is also here to support you with local resources that can make caregiving a little easier. Whether it’s information, encouragement, or simply a place to be heard, our goal is to help caregivers feel connected, supported, and valued.

If you are a caregiver—or if you care about someone who is—this space is for you. Come share, listen, and grow together with other caregivers.
