Finding the Courage to Connect

Loneliness can affect anyone, even when we are surrounded by people. Beginning college, starting a new job, becoming a caregiver, moving to a new community, or entering a new season of life can leave us wondering where we belong. Healthy connections rarely happen overnight. They grow one conversation, one invitation, and one shared experience at a time. As you reflect today, consider how God has used relationships to encourage you and where He may be inviting you to make a new connection.

  1. Have you ever experienced a season of loneliness? What was it like?

  2. Who helped you feel welcomed during that season?

  3. What keeps you from reaching out and meeting new people?

  4. What hobbies, interests, or activities help you connect with others?

  5. Is there a community, church, support group, or live conversation you have been thinking about joining?

  6. How has a friendship changed your life for the better?

  7. Who in your life may be feeling lonely and could benefit from a simple invitation or conversation?

  8. What is one new connection you can make this week that could strengthen your self care?

  9. How has God used relationships to encourage you during difficult seasons?

  10. What kind of friend do you want to be to others?

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating us to live in relationship with You and with one another. When we feel lonely, remind us that You are always with us. Give us the courage to reach out, meet new people, and build healthy connections that encourage and strengthen us. Help us notice those who may be feeling alone, and use us to offer friendship, kindness, and hope. May our relationships reflect Your love and remind us that we were never meant to walk this journey alone. In Jesus' name, Amen.
