Living the Vision: Edge UMC Brings the United Methodist Church’s New Statement to Life in Groveland

Edge United Methodist Church is proud to embrace the newly unveiled vision statement from The United Methodist Church, announced by the Council of Bishops in collaboration with the Connectional Table. This inspiring declaration is more than words—it’s a call to action, a spiritual compass, and a reflection of God’s dream for the world.

The Vision: “The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.”

This new vision complements our longstanding mission to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” (Matthew 28:18–20), and here at Edge UMC, we are committed to bringing it to life right here in Groveland, Florida.

Inspired by Matthew 22 and John 13, we passionately love God and embrace all people—every age, race, gender, and walk of life. Our doors are open, our hearts are wide, and our community is built on radical inclusion and grace.

With a Christ-like heart, we walk alongside the vulnerable, offering care and compassion through ministries like our food pantry, outreach partnerships, and community events. Psalm 100 reminds us to serve with gladness—and that joy is contagious.

Rooted in Joshua 1:9 and Ephesians 6:10, we strive to dismantle injustice and build peace. Whether advocating for equity, supporting survivors, or creating safe spaces, we follow Jesus’ example of bold leadership and transformative love.

As Bishop Tracy Smith Malone shared, “This is a Kairos moment… a catalyst for transformation.” At Edge UMC, we believe Groveland is part of that divine opportunity. We’re excited to walk this path with our neighbors, empowered by the Holy Spirit and guided by this new vision.
